If anyone still reads this, I have my own little poll and would love your input.
Here is the question:
If you had to pick the top three Radiohead songs, what would you pick? They do not have to necessarily be in order.

[add We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank by Modest Mouse]
should i feel bad that neither of these albums are being released until early-mid march?
I do feel really bad, but I am also really enjoying it

I'm not really sure if anybody still even reads this but I guess it's worth a try.
Does anybody have any of the following albums?
If yes, would anybody care to share/trade/swap?
Thanks

The big band piece that i wrote (Cultural Divide) won first prize in the IAJE compositional contest
I won $500
I am ecstatic
I won $500
I am ecstatic
one of the best feelings in the world:
conducting the last cord (which also happens to be the climax) of the big band piece you wrote
when your lead trumpet player was the lead player of the Buddy Rich band, who also played with Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Joe Williams, Tony Bennett, and the Supremes
greg signed my piece afterwords and told me he liked my piece
to sum it all up: tonight was amazing. i cant beleive this is it - the last concert at south ever
at least it ended on a good note

pops night was great
everything went very quickly, but overall it was a really really fun night
im very happy with how the jazz band pulled off playing my peice.
im going to miss it
i was unhappy with nick winning 3 awards for groups that he was not in
also the fact that he has only been at south for two years and that he cannot play 1-5-2 without cracking a note
i thought that any other senior in band should have won it over nick
1 award, fine he deserves one
but i think that nobody should really be winning more than one award for a night like this
on a more exciting note
for jazz nite next week, linde said that she wanted to play my peice again
and have me conduct it
and have greg hopkins play on my peice and solo on my song
(for those of you who don't know who he is, he is the guest artist this year. he is an amazing trumpet player who has played with Dizzy Gillespie, Ella fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder)
that would be the coolest thing ever, having a well know jazz trumpet player play on one of my own original big band peices
that would mean i would be conducting a star

The whole point of music is the fact that you cannot describe it with words, or pictures or through any other sense.
I just got back from Sigur Ros and it definitelyhad some of the most exciting musical moments of my life. The weather was really crappy and cold, but the sound of constant rain pinging against the pavement was a very cool effect. The lights were stunning, and they played every song I would have wanted to hear.
The last song they played was thrilling. I love the sound of a bass holding out a note that is so loud that it makes each person in the audience feel as though they were surrounded by a big fluffy bass sound.
I can't imagine what it must feel like to be on a stage like that while something that intense is happening. I have had similar moments while playing on stage, but nothing quite as intense as this ending. Everyone was completely wailing on their instrument. It was very cool to see so much energy on the stage, all focused together.
it was a great concert, despite the rain

This goes out to every person out there who wanted to go to the radiohead concert, but couldn't get tickets. Especially those who woke up before 6 am on a saturday morning to get tickets and were there before 630am at the box office.

I think it is only appropriate that I sum up todays events.
So today started out pretty well. Jazz in the am to kick things off, fine. It was then followed by anatomy which i almost missed because my entire class was in the lecture hall for an earth day presentation. I was able to figure this out with jared just because we are that clever. Ok, the truth is we almost didn't go despite the fact that we knew where our class was, but then decided it would be a bad reason to skip. Then homeroom. Obviously nothing to say about that. Math: pop quiz. great mr mosbrooker, great. thanks alot for telling us we will have a quiz on thursday, and then give us a pop quiz two days before that. fine ok, i can deal. then i had psyc in which we had another pop quiz (luckily that did not count) The highlight of this class was mr johns spilling his huge filled to the top cup of starbucks coffee all over the floor. he was more upset about losing the coffee than the mess on the floor. as soon as this happened, webber ran (no really, he ran) out to get paper towels. what a goofy class
ok, so if you got bored with that last paragraph and skipped to this one, i cant blame you. there was nothing really noteworthy about my day so far. Lunch comes and I walk into the band room, and go straight to the crack shack to play video games with others as i always do. alex then tells me there is a note on the door for me from ms linde. It said "Tim- it turns out the Jazz Ensemble Big Band arrangement competition composition peice was actually due yesterday - but if you get it in today they will still accept it."
I have spent way too much time on this peice to just roll over and not turn this in. my day took a big turn from this point.
Alex and I went to Bills for lunch and brought a sub back for Ben. Alex and I then skipped out on F block and went to my house, where we worked on my peice untill 530. At that point, we printed out the 70+ pages and left for south, stopping only at mcdonalds for dinner (where we actually ran into shira). we went back to alex's house so that i could fill out the form to submit my peice. i then realized that i needed ms lindes signature on the form. after trying my hand at forging, i decided that my only hope was to get alex's mom to do it. she refused to do it unless i had ms linde's permission. i then called ms linde at home - answering machine. i tried her cell phone (which alex had - long story) after 5 rings the awkward convo began of me and ms linde on the phone. she didnt ask once how i got the number or why i was calling, probably because my first sentence was something along the lines of
himslindeitistimineedyoursignaturetosubm itmybigbandpeice
(that actually is a sentence, see if you can figure it out..)
she told me to have a girl forge it for me which was played by the rold of mrs. challoff's
I then journeyed to drop it off at Boston Conservatory. Because the peice was due yesterday and the peice was not ready untill after the 5pm closing of all post offices, i had to drop it off. i got to mass ave fine, but there was no parking, and looking to turn around, i found my self on comm ave going back towards newton. i had to ask for directions, but eventually made it back to mass ave. frustrated with the lack of street parking, i found a saving grace - $4/hr parking garage - perfect. except for the fact that after 5pm it goes to a flat rate of $10 and i had $4 in my wallet. great. actually it worked out perfectly. i talked to the parking attendant and told him my situation and he agreed to let me park for 5 bucks (i found 3 quarters in my pocket and one on the floor of the car)
i ran into the wrong building at boston conservatory and got redirected to another building around the corner. there, the receptionist that i was supposed to leave my parts with was not there. instead there was a security guard sitting behind the desk. again, i had to tell my story and he let me leave it on the desk. i made my way home on rt 9 with lots of traffic but finally got home at 8pm.
plot summary - i skipped last block, worked on my peice from 1-6, drove in my peice from 6-8. though i had a relaxing afternoon planned, that was forced to be put aside. had ms linde told me when it was really due (yesterday) none of this would have happened. i kept asking her to help me with my peice, but she pushed me aside because we had in her opinion much more important things to do before vacation. she did not even tell me this, instead she left a note on her office door. what if i hadnt checked her door, i almost missed it anyways and i have no obligation to check her door before i leave school.
conclusion:
1. ms linde - you really really screwed me up, thanks a lot
2. alex is a savior and deserves great thanks from me
